Solar  Modules

The solar industry is rapidly growing and far from mature.  The growing pains have some interesting effects.  One of which is module supply.

It's sporadic.  Manufacturers cannot guarantee beyond a 2-3 container loads (about 500ea) at a time.  This makes it very difficult for distributors and installers to present a solid long term offering with integrity to you the end customer.

There are dozens of websites offering solar modules for sale.  A call to purchase those modules you will often be met with an offer for something else.  This is not a bait and switch.  Online distributors would have to change their pages of their websites almost daily. So instead they put up something they currently have and then hope to have that when you call.

At TSG we've got a different approach.  We're going to be straight up and tell you we're not sure what modules are available right now!  We're going to promise you that the modules we offer will always be a good middle-tier product and they'll be the same modules we're installing on our customers roofs.

That Solar Guy  will not sell you anything we can get.  If it's not good enough for us to install it's not good enough for us to sell to you. That's true for inverters, racking and Balance of System components as well.  So give us a call and we can have a solar chat.  I'm happy to discuss your project with you and go over what quality modules are in the market right now that best suit what you're trying to achieve.

Inverters

At That Solar Guy we're really biased on selecting an inverter manufacturer. We are SMA all the way.  If you ask 100 installers about SMA you'll probably hear all 100 say the same thing; "They're A great inverter"   When I was the manager of a Customer Support Department for a solar power company I got to see what products failed.  I experienced amazingly high failure rates with some inverters, but not SMA.  Their highly efficient, have a super-low failure rate, and produced by a well run friendly company.

The inverter is the heart of the system. If a module blows big deal.  You're out 5% system power for a few weeks.  If your inverter blows, you lose 100% of your harvest for a couple weeks.  I'm sure there are other quality inverters out there, but TSG is sticking with SMA, the experimentation with another brand is not worth it.

Check the Inverter Gallery here to learn more about what the inverter might look like in your home and how easy it is to install.
