In order to find out how many
modules you can fit or where you have space available, you need
to create a scaled drawing of your roof. Here's how you do
that
Start by going up on your roof a
creating a basic sketch of the shape of your roof. Don't
worry about scale, just draw all the features. If there's
a vent tube, skylight, chimney or furnace exhaust draw it in
it's approximate location.

Now take your tape measure or
measuring reel and measure each of the dimensions you'll need to
create your scaled drawing.
Again, if you have a vent tube,
measure how far down from the ridge it is and how far from the
side/edge of the roof
Next, jot all these numbers down
Remember, you're not building the
Space Shuttle here, To the closest inch should suffice.
TIP: Two people can make this task go
MUCH quicker.
.
Here's the drawing you should come
down the ladder with.
The next step is to create a scaled
drawing. This is perhaps the task that takes the most skill in
the whole installation.
And here's the final
scaled drawing of the roof. Now draw some rectangles that
are scaled to the dimensions of the
modules you are getting and
move them around to determine best fit/positioning.
TIP:
Keep out of areas that are shaded between 9-4pm and away from
vent tubes and exhaust vents for same reason.
